roasting peppers is years in the making. About five years ago I trialed six different varieties of red roasters. Varieties from Italy and Hungary some grown here in the Northwest and some from around the world. I liked certain traits of each one but there wasn’t a number 1 stand out variety I wanted to grow for seed. The following year I decided to grow my top four and cross them up and see what happened. The original cross was four popular varieties that grew the healthiest plants overall for me: Stocky Red Roaster, Italian Red Heart, Jimmy Nardello, and Corno di Toro. Honestly, there isn’t a ton of differences in the varieties but I thought why not add more genetics and see what happens. Since then I’ve grown them out for three consecutive years, harvesting seed from the earliest to ripen, tallest and most productive plants. I didn’t pay much attention to size and shape, only wanting to have a Roasting Pepper that turns red before November! I offer up this seed mix as a work in progress for all of you to grow and save in whatever way works for you.

75-85 days to maturity

Packet contains ~25 seeds

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0839/4896/2100/files/6ecc31_39b2e4938c924960b90a36e6e4c888c5_mv2.jpg?v=1763189697
sugar-snap-pea-1
Sugar Snap Pea

Pisum sativum

Sweet, crunchy, wonderful, classic snap pea- Sugar Snap is the standard others are measured against. Sugar Snap produces an abundance of large sweet pods for eating fresh or cooking.
